Puroflux Sand Filters – They’re Not Just for Cooling Towers!
Music City Center (MCC) – Nashville was using two small fiberglass sand filter vessels to help remove sludge from their rainwater harvesting system. This rainwater harvesting system consists of a 360,000 gallon cistern and is used as part of their water conservation / sustainability program. This multi-use cistern helps feed irrigation, toilets/urinals, and a “green roof”.
The fiberglass tanks had served their useful life and were beginning to become a common maintenance item with cracks and leaks. A single Puroflux PF-40 series coated carbon steel vessel was used to replace the dual vessel system. A holding tank is being utilized to ensure the sand filter backwash can be managed properly.
MCC was also able to minimize costs by sizing the Puroflux sand filter to utilize their existing vertical turbine pump.
Puroflux Sand Media Filters can be utilized in many applications outside the traditional cooling tower water filtration. Contact your local Puroflux representative for more information
